- Generating requirements, scoping work, and planning tasks in conjunction with stakeholders.
- Applying first principles to mechanical designs as well as standard fluid flow and thermal hydraulic theory to inform and justify design decisions around system and mechanical layout, component selection and sizing, manufacturability and fit form and function.
- Integrate design and conventional health and safety principles, as well considerations from other disciplines, into credible technical solutions and arguments.
- Experience ideally in a relevant, heavily regulated industry, such as Aerospace, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Energy, Water or Nuclear.
- Experience of specifying, designing, justifying, building and commissioning of complex mechanical & fluid systems.
- Track record of delivering solutions against specific customer requirements to time, cost and quality.
- Sound knowledge of engineering principles, process safety, and applicable codes & standards.
- Experience in producing detailed component and assembly drawings to a high standard inclusive of GD&T.
- Experienced in the use of Unigraphics NX & Team centre is highly desirable.
- Experience of operating complex fluid/chemical or mechanical systems is desirable.
- Understand of design process and design and safety assessment processes and tools eg HAZOPs/FMEAs
- Degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or another design engineering discipline.
