Interviews to be held W/C 6th October 2025An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Barnsley Facilities Services (BFS) here at Barnsley Hospital in the Decontamination Services Team as a Technician. The Decontamination Services Team are focused on delivering high quality, compliant services, at the right speed and cost to Barnsley Hospital (BHNFT) and BFS other customers; meeting customer needs, offering high levels of customer satisfaction and a safe environment for patients, staff and service users / customers to operate within.You will be working within a team of technicians ensuring that the decontamination process for multiple areas is conducted in a timely and efficient manner. You will therefore have the ability to prioritise conflicting demands ensuring strict deadlines are met. This is therefore a rewarding and demanding role as it involves working within a Quality Management System.Previous experience whilst beneficial is not required. This role will develop into Technician, sponsored for the Health Care Science Level 2 Apprenticeship.If selected for the interview, please make sure you bring your Maths and English GCSE results.You will be employed on a fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours a week, with time for formal study. A high percentage of our Apprentices are recruited into permanent employment within BFS during and on completion of their Apprenticeship.Youmust notalready hold a same or higher level qualification in the same subject area.Main duties of the jobIn this role you will undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the workforce of Decontamination Technician Supervisors, in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.Carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices within the ISO 13485:2016 and UK MDR 2002. Record all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.Ensure all instrument sets are assembled in accordance with the sets contents lists and sterilized to laid down procedures.
