- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing of all operational vehicles, fire pumps, ladders, cutting equipment and all specialist fire service equipment as specified by its manufacturer, DVSA and CFOA. This includes Fire appliances, hydraulic platforms, Unimog's, Land Rovers, vans, cars, water carriers, boats, and all associated equipment.
- Ensure SF&RS can operate a safe, legal, and reliable fleet of vehicles and equipment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Ensure all maintenance, and other records and associated paperwork is completed in good time, legibly and accurately in conjunction with the Administrative Support team.
- Educated to GCSE standard in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
- City and Guilds HGV Motor Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair - Heavy Vehicle
- Minimum Category B driving licence and flexibility to work out on the road independently.
- An ability to problem solve and to produce engineering solutions.
- Welding and engineering skills.
- A willingness to undertake training for working on specialist vehicles/equipment.
