
Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

- MBBS/MRCP or equivalent
- Licence to practice and full registration with GMC
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in RM and GIM via CCT/ CESR or within 6 months of completion of CCT at time of interview
- Distinctions, Scholarships prizes, other degrees eg BSc MSc, MS
- Higher degree (MD/PhD) or working towards
- Broad experience of general Respiratory Medicine
- Recent experience of managing general medical patients
- Medical Thoracoscopy experience
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing experience - supervising and interpretation.
- Sleep experience
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit as well as QUIP
- Cardiopulmonary exercise test interpretation and experience.
- An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature.
- Commitment to teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduates and evidence of active participation in teaching and education
- Evidence of personal research
- Projects and their presentation.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- MD/PhD
- Attendance at specialist programmes to improve teaching/educational skills.
- Expertise in teaching.
- A sympathetic approach to patients and relatives
- To have undertaken a postgraduate course on communication skills (or ensure that you have undertaken one within one year of appointment)
- Ability to establish good professional relations
- Punctuality, reliability
- Understands the NHS system nationally, regionally and locally
- Understands the concepts and principals of clinical governance
- Awareness of current service development issues
- Able to work across Trust sites dependent on the needs of the service with a full current driver's license.
- Will have attended a National Health Service Management Course appropriate to Consultant duties.
