Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Daily Rate: £90 - £103.90
Contract Type: Temporary to permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)

The school is committed to helping pupils build confidence, develop independence, and improve communication skills at a pace that works for them.This full-time Teaching Assistant position is perfect for someone who understands the unique challenges and strengths of autistic learners and is passionate about helping them achieve their potential.Key Responsibilities Include:Supporting pupils aged 5-16 in both 1-1 and small group settingsAssisting with the delivery of tailored learning programmes and routinesEncouraging engagement and communication through creative, adapted activitiesHelping pupils during transitions and supporting strategies to reduce anxietyWorking closely with teachers to deliver targeted, motivating lessonsContributing to a calm, inclusive and respectful classroom environmentWe're Looking for Candidates With:Recent experience in a UK school setting as a Teaching AssistantA relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3/2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)A good understanding of autism and how it impacts learning and behaviourStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and staffA calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to supporting children with additional needsDesirable Experience Includes:Supporting non-verbal pupils or those using AAC systemsKnowledge of Makaton, PECS, or sensory-based support strategiesWhat We Offer:Long-term, reliable Teaching Assistant work with the chance of a permanent roleA welcoming, well-structured school environmentThe opportunity to complete trial days before committing fullyFree CPD training to support professional development and career progressionIf you meet the requirements and are dedicated to supporting autistic students in their learning journey, we'd love to hear from you.
