To lead the maintenance and repair of mechanical plant equipment within the workshop and on-site as required. The Senior Plant Fitter will act as a technical lead, supporting the Maintenance Supervisor and Foreman in ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while mentoring junior team members and promoting best practices.ProfileKey Tasks & Responsibilities -
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Ability to interpret OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals, method statements (MS), and risk assessments (RA), ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
  • Diagnose and repair complex faults in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
  • Lead the rigging and de-rigging of BSL-owned equipment in accordance with OEM procedures both on and off site.
  • Support the development of apprentices and junior fitters through mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Use telematics systems to monitor equipment performance and assist in fault diagnosis.
  • Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance using company templates and schedules.
  • Perform basic welding (non-structural) and flame cutting as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
  • Accurately complete and submit daily timesheets within 24 hours.
  • Maintain a personal tool inventory and ensure tools are kept in good working order.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and improvement suggestions via the 1App.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and foreman with planning, stock control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain company vehicle in accordance with company policy handbook.

  • Be prepared to travel overseas with some notice - either to job site or OEM visit.
