- Classroom Collaboration: Liaise with teaching staff to advise on appropriate communication strategies and to adapt learning materials, ensuring they are accessible.
- Student Support: Provide support for activities both in and out of the classroom, including residential trips, college visits, and examinations, in line with awarding body guidelines.
- Technical Aid Assistance: Help students use technical aids like minicoms and radio aids to enhance their learning experience.
- Material Preparation: Transcribe videos and prepare learning materials specifically tailored to the needs of individual d/Deaf learners.
- Professional Qualification: Qualified Communication Support Workers are required, with membership in a professional organization such as BATOD.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in a range of communication methods, with a commitment to continuously developing skills, including British Sign Language.
- A Proactive Approach: A "can-do" attitude and the ability to take initiative in adapting to the needs of students and staff.
