
Interim Health, Safety and Environment Officer

- Travel between Spalding and Birds Drove sites (approx. 3 miles apart).
- Regular access to cold storage and production areas.
- Drive Safety Excellence β Assist in developing and rolling out top-tier Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures that keep teams protected and operations compliant.
- Champion Risk Control β Play a key role in reviewing risk assessments, conducting site inspections, and ensuring Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) are always up to standard.
- Monitor & Report Compliance β Stay ahead of daily operational risks by flagging safety concerns and supporting swift corrective action with the SHE Manager.
- Engage Stakeholders Effectively β Communicate clearly and confidently with internal teams and external partners to align SHE expectations.
- Lead Audits & Inspections β Conduct routine safety checks, support internal audits, and track non-conformances to closure β maintaining detailed records every step of the way.
- Support Training & Development β Coordinate SHE training sessions (e.g. inductions, first aid, fire marshal), maintain accurate training logs, and identify gaps for continuous improvement.
- Promote Safety Awareness β Drive a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, engaging posters, and clear, consistent communication materials.
- Champion Environmental Action β Assist with environmental controls, sustainability projects, and ISO 50001 reporting while supporting recycling, waste management, and pollution prevention.
- Respond to Incidents Proactively β Aid in investigating incidents and near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting, tracking, and contribution to root cause analysis.
- Keep Records & Reports Sharp β Maintain key SHE documentation, help prepare monthly and annual performance reports, and ensure contractor compliance through proper permits and paperwork.
- Experience in a health, safety, or environmental support role, ideally within food production, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of UK SHE legislation and best practices.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage operational teams.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- NEBOSH General Certificate or working toward it.
- ISO 45001, 14001 or 50001 exposure.
- First Aid or Fire Marshal training (preferred but not essential).
- Additional Eastern European languages would be advantageous.
- Experience supporting ISO audits or SHE management systems.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
