Human Resources Health & Safety ManagerLocation: BedfordSalary: Confidential – Please EnquireHours: Full Time, 37 hours (Part Time considered)Start Date: Late Sept / Early NovWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is a pivotal role, responsible for driving best practice in both people management and workplace safety, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive, high-performance culture.The Role:You will lead on all HR and H&S matters, supporting the senior management team and acting as the go-to advisor for staff and managers alike. From recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and performance management, you will help the organisation attract, retain, and develop talent. Alongside this, you will manage health and safety policies, risk assessments, and training, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and promoting a safe working environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
  • Manage HR policies, procedures, and employee relations cases.
  • Coach and support managers with effective people management.
  • Develop and manage training plans and budgets.
  • Monitor HR metrics including turnover, absence, and headcount.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment legislation and health & safety regulations.
  • Lead risk assessments, accident investigations, and COSHH register updates.
  • Coordinate health & safety training and maintain H&S records.
  • Support payroll processes and time & attendance administration.
  • Act as Security Controller (training provided).
Requirements:
  • CIPD Level 5 (or above) qualification.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (or willingness to obtain NEBOSH).
  • Proven HR generalist experience, ideally within manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR systems.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills.
  • Confident handling sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Tenacious with the ability to balance legal compliance and commercial priorities.
  • Experience with Moorepay payroll system advantageous.
