A unique opportunity has arisen at Pension Insurance Corporation within the Debt Origination team, a team which sits within PIC Capital, PIC’s wider private asset origination business that operates across various private markets.We are seeking to recruit a Debt Origination Analyst (Infrastructure).The Debt Origination team contributes to the overall success of the business by sourcing, structuring and investing in off-benchmark investment grade debt. The key rationale for us to directly invest is to: * source returns that are in excess of where public bonds are trading
  • to obtain cash flows not available elsewhere, and
  • to provide diversification of access to credit markets
The team has invested more than £10 billion over a decade in areas like social housing, infrastructure, renewable energy, structured finance, and other public sectors.In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, and your primary responsibility will be to assist senior members of the team in the execution of direct investments for PIC across various industries, sectors, jurisdictions and business lines with a focus on infrastructure finance.Credit Analysis and Due Diligence
  • Conducting thorough financial analysis and due diligence on potential investment opportunities.
  • Preparing detailed credit papers and reports for internal stakeholders and senior management.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of deals.
Financial Modelling
  • Model financial projections and sensitivities in Microsoft Excel
Market Research
  • Contributing fresh ideas and insights to enhance the team's performance and overall success
  • Stay informed about market developments, macroeconomic trends, and regulatory changes affecting public and private credit markets.
Other Responsibilities
  • Working with the wider DO team on live transactions and projects across various sectors depending on pipeline
RequirementsEssential:
  • Relevant experience in investment management, investment banking, corporate finance, rating agency or related roles
  • Candidate should be keen to build understanding of financial markets and gain experience in various debt structures and transactions
  • A strong sense of teamwork, dedication, and attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills. Strong Excel skills
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a small team with a flat structure to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Desirable:
  • Ideally knowledge of some of the following:
  • Credit / Rating analysis
  • Interest rate/curves/cash flow discounting.
  • Derivatives
  • Experience of:
  • Bond/Loan/PP credit markets with a focus on infrastructure assets
  • Basic Bloomberg Knowledge
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a 2.1 degree or equivalent
  • Willing to pursue, or previous progress with, the CFA designation or other relevant qualifications
