The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best therefore NHS Tayside welcomes applicants from all sections of society.This is an opportunity for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a busy Blood Sciences Department providing a 24/7 high quality, analytical, interpretive and advisory diagnostic service, mainly to NHS Tayside Acute and Primary Care Divisions but also to North Fife and South Grampian. The Department operates on two sites, 20 miles apart, with the main laboratory facility being at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and a multi-disciplinary laboratory at Perth Royal Infirmary.We are seeking a proactive member of staff that can demonstrate team spirit, initiative, flexibility and has the enthusiasm to train further. You will be working in a state-of-the-art automated Blood Sciences laboratory with Siemens ADVIA 2120i FBC analysers, ACL TOPS Coagulation analysers, and blood film reporting. The Department provides specialist services such as Diabetic HbA1c measurement and Haemoglobinopathy investigation by capillary electrophoresis, Thrombophilia screening, Coagulation Point of Care/NPT monitoring, and leukaemia diagnosis using Immunophenotyping and cytochemistry. NHS Tayside Blood Sciences department is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No. 8681.Post qualification professional development is encouraged and supported. On attaining appropriate competences, you will join the roster for the Out of Hours sessions which will include some weekend, evening, overnight and public holiday duties.You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and have completed or working towards completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma (Annex 21 would apply) or equivalent prior experience. Candidates without the above qualification will be paid a percentage of the maximum salary as a Trainee in accordance with Agenda for Change Annex 21 Paragraph 2 (ii).Hours of work are: 37.0 hours per week.
