The team also assists with the development of reporting and operational infrastructure.What will I be doing?The accountant will be the business partner to the Fund Solutions desk, covering both Financial Control and Financial Planning & Analysis.Key responsibilities include:
  • Drive the reporting of business performance, forecasting and budgeting for the Fund Solutions desk
  • Business partnering to the desk - providing insights and supporting strategic decision-making, enhancing organisational performance and alignment with business objectives
  • Reporting daily P&L for the Fund Solutions lending business
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet substantiation files for Fund Solutions lending business
  • Revenue recognition on loans, and classification and measurement of financial instruments
  • Daily FX exposure monitoring
  • Monthly variance analysis - provide commentary and breakdowns on income statement and balance sheet movements
  • Monthly production of client P&L and loan book movement analysis for lending business
  • Monthly fair value calculation for FV loans and analysis of the monthly movements and drivers
  • Analysis of Regulatory Capital and impairments at a deal and desk level and analysis of allocated and direct costs
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting for management reporting purposes
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual and semi-annual financial statement Lending disclosure packs for the Investec statutory accounts
  • Audit queries during annual and interim audits
  • Performing reconciliation between ledger, source systems and risk/capital systems, including investigation and resolution of breaks
  • Reconciliation of inter-divisional and intercompany balances
  • Timely escalation of issues/concerns
What are we looking for?
  • Qualified accountant
  • Strong academics (essential)
  • Financial and Management Accounting knowledge for a banking business
  • Systematic approach in analysing and solving problems with good attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition, enabling effective financial reporting and compliance with international accounting standards
  • Intermediate Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work without close supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player
  • Creative and comfortable working in a dynamic team/environment
