
PMLD Learning Support Assistant

- Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support for students with PMLD, helping to foster their independence and personal development.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, mobility, and hygiene, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
- Promote an inclusive, positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
- Collaborate with the SEN team to monitor and adapt teaching strategies to support each student's learning journey.
- Utilize specialized equipment to ensure accessibility and aid in the students' learning experiences.
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide holistic support for students.
- Proven experience working with students with PMLD in an educational setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people with complex needs.
- Familiarity with communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or similar (desirable).
- A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding guidelines.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent SEN-related qualification).
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment.
