- This is a Permanent, Full Time, Hybrid position, working 8:00-16:30 Monday – Thursday and 8:00-13:00 on a Friday.
- To lead the concept development of products to meet the customers’ exacting needs.
- To establish technical feasibility
- To generate vehicle level concepts with limited instruction, often ambiguous requirements.
- To eliminate non-viable options during the early vehicle concept phase through product/design evaluation with Safety, appearance, reliability, and function being critical attributes.
- To work with the SMEs in the definition of the technical attributes and requirements of the vehicle concept.
- To produce detailed reports in the form of PPT’s, 3D cad models, 2d Cad data in the form of GA and WA drgs, complete detailed weight calculations, passenger capacity calcs and tilt calculations.
- To Lead, prepare and present technical documentation and papers for review and communication with key stakeholders throughout the Concept review process, Engineering Gate process and concept handover into NPD.
- Interface directly with internal and external customers on technical issues and requirements. Ensuring high customer satisfaction through safe, reliable and fit for purpose designs
- Work in accordance with the Engineering Product Development process and demonstrate compliance with the deliverables through design records and documentation ensuring compliance to the latest standards.
- Carry out detailed benchmarking activities, best practice studies, cost studies and any other activity deemed necessary to support the Vehicle concept development as determined by the Principal Engineer.
- You’ll hold a degree level qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or an HNC in Engineering with demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in whole vehicle design within the Automotive industry is highly beneficial in the execution of this role.
- You will have an active interest in vehicle-based technologies and have an expert understanding of vehicle design and be highly skilled in the use of 3D CAD systems, MS Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and be able to evidence this experience.
- You have a good understanding of design for manufacturing processes with evidenced experience in the activity.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of seniority, internally and externally.
- You will be able to provide examples of working in a busy, technically complex and detail driven job role.
- A willingness to travel between UK Sites as required.
