Pay: £30-35 per hourWe are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND tutor to support a 16-year-old autistic child with ASD, SEMH needs. This is is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by creating a positive and responsive learning environment. You will be working two-to-one with the young person, primarily within an SEN setting based in Camden. This role will require some planning and feedback to be delivered to parents and multi disciplinary teams.SEND Tutor Role:Based in Camden this part time SEND tutor role will involve working with SEN teachers delivering and differentiating the bespoke curriculum that will be delivered to the student, alongside a support worker/LSA. It will be essential to ensure the SEND tutor has strong SEN skills and is able to adapt to the students needs on the day. The student will be attending an SEN college in Camden three days a week for 6 hours a day (18 hours a week total)SEND Tutor Key Responsibilities:Deliver a differentiated curriculum working alongside the students teachers in his subjects (Key Stage 5)Build trust and emotional safety by attuning to the YP's pace and preferencesUse positive, non-directive methods to support learning and engagement * Focus on independent living skills and literacyRespect and support the YP's independence while remaining available to step in before overwhelmIdentify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggersEncourage initiation, allow time for processing, and offer flexible choicesPromote emotional regulation through calm and consistent presence * Use alternative communication techniques such as makaton/visual timetables/pictures and symbolsBe willing to accompany the YP to safe and familiar places that support well being and learningEssential Qualities:
- Experience working with autistic children or children with complex SEN
- Able to differentiate lessons based on the students needs
- Experience working with students with SEMH is desired but not essential
- Experience with AAC/Makaton/PECS
