Hybrid working - East Birmingham LocationRole PurposeWe're looking for a detail-driven, commercially astute M&E Estimator to join a well-established manufacturing team. This role is ensuring profitable project delivery by producing accurate, competitive cost estimates for projects, tenders, and small works across all divisions. You'll analyse requirements, research costs, liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, and prepare compelling, financially sound proposals.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Analysis
- Review blueprints, specifications, and proposals to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Identify cost drivers such as complexity, location, timelines, and risk.
- Calculate labour loading from tender data and maintain accurate labour recovery rates.
- Manage and update all commercial templates and estimating processes.
- Work closely with operational teams to develop strong, competitive commercial offerings.
- Produce accurate costings for materials, labour, equipment, transport, and overheads.
- Source and review competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Consider price fluctuations, inflation, exchange rates, and timescale impacts.
- Ensure all costings meet relevant H&S regulations.
- Prepare detailed cost summaries, tenders, and bid proposals.
- Understand contract cost structures and resource efficiency impacts.
- Collaborate with sales, project, and design teams to create winning strategies.
- Present and defend proposals to clients effectively.
- Identify and assess potential risks; recommend mitigation strategies.
- Propose cost optimisation and efficiency improvements to enhance profitability.
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
- Track project costs against forecasts and flag deviations.
- Provide regular cost reports and analysis to management.
- Adhere to all statutory, company, and regulatory H&S standards.
- Proactively identify hazards and escalate issues appropriately.
- Maintain up-to-date cost databases and industry knowledge.
- Seek out new technologies and process improvements.
- Take ownership of objectives, working independently with curiosity and initiative.
- Uphold company values, ethics, and equality principles.
- Previous experience with Estimation with a M&E biased
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office tools.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach.
