The shift pattern is 08:00 - 18:00 (9.5 hours) over 4 daysThis is an exciting opportunity to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's Public Health Protection Unit (PHPU) as a permanent Health Protection Nurse Specialist.NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health board in Scotland and provides a Public Health Protection Service to over 1.2 million people. The post holder will be based within the Public Health Protection Unit, 1st Floor, West House, Gartnavel Royal Hospital Campus.The post holder, through co-operation with our partner agencies (especially local authorities), will seek to support and protect the local population from both communicable diseases and environmental hazards which could endanger their health. This is done by risk identification investigation and mitigation, thus preventing, controlling or reducing exposure to communicable diseases and environmental hazards and limiting, where possible, the damage to health when such exposures occur.Therefore, the post holder requires to work closely with the public, Infectious Diseases Unit staff, Infection Prevention and Control Teams, laboratory staff, colleagues in Pharmacy, Immunisation Teams and local partner agencies. Consequently, multidisciplinary working is required as is demonstrable experience of working in the community and working with vaccinations.The Public Health Department operates 7 day working, therefore weekend and public holiday working is required. Shift pattern is 08:00 - 18:00 (9.5 hours) across 4 days, Monday to Sunday.You must be a registered nurse/midwife/RMN on the NMC Register, hold relevant first level degree/post-registration qualifications and be able to demonstrate evidence of further professional development. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
