- Full GMC Registration with licence to practice in the UK
- Full MRCS (UK) or equivalent
- ALS or equivalent
- Good and wide-ranging recent experience of general surgery in an acute inpatient setting in a large/ tertiary hospital
- NHS Experience of at least 12 months
- Evidence of completion of key competencies equivalent to at least CT2 level
- Evidence of working out of hours with limited support
- Experience of supervising junior colleagues
- Evidence of training in surgical skills and trauma management/ critical surgical care
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit/quality improvement
- Experience and enthusiasm for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Commitment and enthusiasm for professional development as evidenced by undertaking of courses/ programmes of post graduate study
