- Compile detailed cost projections for multiple project types, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Evaluate drawings, specifications, and project documents to interpret requirements.
- Review and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to achieve optimal value.
- Structure cost breakdowns and pricing formats tailored to client and project needs.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between pricing and delivery expectations.
- Assist in assembling tender submissions, including cost justifications and value-driven options.
- Update internal pricing libraries and supply chain databases to reflect current market conditions.
- Participate in site inspections and client discussions as part of the bid process.
- Keep abreast of industry pricing trends and supply fluctuations to inform estimates.
- Operate in line with internal protocols and the standards set out by RICS and other regulatory bodies.
- Background working as an Estimator or in a similar costing role within the construction industry.
- Strong grasp of building practices, materials, and various forms of contract.
- High level of numerical accuracy and analytical thinking.
- Self-sufficient and able to manage workload without excessive supervision.
- Capable of building rapport and effectively communicating with clients and colleagues alike.
- Strong commercial mindset with an understanding of margin protection and value delivery.
- Confident interpreting construction documentation, including drawings and technical notes.
- Ideally educated to HNC, HND, or Degree level in a relevant field such as Quantity Surveying, Construction, or Civil Engineering.
- Membership of professional bodies (such as RICS, CIOB, or CICES) is advantageous but not mandatory.
