- Producing accurate and timely monthly reporting, ensuring it represents a true and fair view at any given time. Investigation of variances from plan and the production of variance analysis.
- To contribute to the production of the year end accounts, including the preparation of working papers and liaison with the external auditors.
- Assist in completing the annual budget setting exercise for area of responsibility working with colleagues to ensure realistic budgets are set across the Trust.
- Supporting financial planning through the maintenance of budgets and calculating of forecasts, liaising with managers as required.
- Providing detailed advice and guidance to support managers discharge their financial management and stewardship duties effectively. Ensure that non-finance managers understand and can use the information provided to them.
- To provide finance training to non-finance managers.
- Identification and implementation of changes to procedures in own areas and which have an impact on other areas for service improvement.
- To provide financial advice to finance and operational colleagues on complex and potentially sensitive issues. To provide challenge in relation to overspends and the identification of CIP.
- To prepare complex costings to support contract variations, new business, or service delivery under the supervision of the Senior Management Accountant
- Memeber of The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or or equivalent (i.e. NVQ level 5 or a degree)
- Experience of applying knowledge and expertise in all Management Accounting work procedures and practices
- Experience of providing detailed advice and guidance to team members and managers (financial and non-financial)
- Experience of implementing changes to procedures in own areas and which have an impact on other areas
- Knowledge and understanding of key Management Accounting work principles and practices e.g. budget setting, forecasting, variance analysis
- Numeracy and an eye for detail, capable of working quickly to a high standard of accuracy
- Able to make judgements involving complex financial and non-financial data, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
- Able to prioritise and work within imposed timetables for oneself and others and to manage conflict and tensions between local and corporate priorities
- Have proven IT skills including regular use of advanced Excel functions (e.g. pivot tables, lookups); use of an Oracle ledger system would be an advantage
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post
