About the roleTo work with the project team, designers and engineers through the design phase to deliver the safe and suitable scope of works in line with the project objectives. Produce drawing output for both initial and detail design phases and support the design of substation works including Single Line Diagrams, Key Line Diagrams,
General Arrangements, Circuit Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Interface Wiring Diagrams including cable connections.To lead the team of interface designers working on specific customer contracts. This will include being the first point of contact for any of the internal interface designers when they have issues on their project and require expert customer specific guidance.What you'll be doingTo produce and modify drawings based upon the design requirements on PT&D projects.Ensure the timely and quality delivery of drawings to a high quality standard which are compliant with the required Client and national technical standards (BS/Eurocodes/ENA).To guide the interface design team, where needed, on issues to reach a solution which meets the needs of the project as well as adhering to customer standards.Key Responsibilities:To assess and identify design and temporary works requirements on each project. Including:Drive a Safety by Design approach at all times.To take personal responsibility and accountability for actions, constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations ensuring safety and quality are never compromised.Ensure that Procedures and Manuals provided for compliance with the appropriate Quality Assurance Standards are applied.Working with multiple clients to produce drawings to their specific standards.To actively develop working methods to improve the quality of the output.Liaise as necessary with the engineer to determine the most suitable and practical interpretation of design requirements.To comply with project and function specific standards and practices.Organise, supervise and monitor the progress of allocated project worksProduce accurate drawing packages & accurate and complete recordsPreparation of all necessary drawings and documents for a project within defined area of responsibility.Ensure the use of Document Management procedures (i.e. BIM360Docs) across the team and projects, in line with company procedure.Who we're looking forA strong understanding of AutoCAD software.Experience working on SSE or NG contracts with an in depth knowledge of their technical requirements with regards to panel and interface design.
IT Literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).
Must be capable of working to strict deadlines.
Attention to detail and an awareness of the quality standards required.
Highly organised
Experience of the Design of substation electrical protection systems
Familiarity with protection system components & substation auxiliary system components (LVAC, batteries etc.)ECITB SAFE Passport - Desired
HNC in Electrical Engineering or higher Desired
