A leading global consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Data Centre and Mission Critical team. This role is integral to delivering complex and high-value infrastructure projects across EMEA, with a particular focus on the hyperscale and co-location data centre market.The successful candidate will act as a technical lead within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting the full project lifecycle while contributing to strategy, standardisation, and best practices across the mechanical discipline.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design and delivery of complex data centre projects across the EMEA region.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with project objectives and client requirements.Define and maintain technical standards, quality benchmarks, and best practices for mechanical engineering within the sector.Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to the upskilling and development of the wider team.Take a hands-on approach to risk management, project planning, and performance monitoring.Represent the business in client meetings, supporting business development and maintaining long-term partnerships.Provide strategic input into the growth of the data centre offering across EMEA and globally.Candidate RequirementsSignificant experience delivering mechanical design for data centres or other mission-critical environments.In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems relevant to data centre infrastructure, including HVAC and cooling strategies.Demonstrable client-facing experience, with the ability to provide high-level technical guidance.Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE or a relevant institution, or working towards it.Strong commercial acumen and understanding of project financials.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Based in or able to commute to one of the following: London, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, or surrounding regions.
