
Payroll Assistant

- Monitor payroll submission deadlines and ensure timely receipt of data
- Maintain and verify time and attendance records
- Liaise with internal teams to validate payroll inputs
- Administer epayslips and reconcile data from payroll bureau
- Support onboarding/offboarding processes including starters, leavers, and transfers
- Track absence records and calculate holiday pay for leavers
- Administer weekly early pay software (e.g. Wagestream)
- Respond to payroll queries including pay, deductions, and tax
- Provide payroll-related data for audits and reporting
- Support training of new administrative staff on payroll systems and legislation
- Ad-hoc support to the Payroll Manager and wider finance/HR teams
- Minimum 3 years' UK payroll experience in a multi-site environment
- Experience with hourly paid, weekly payrolls
- Strong understanding of PAYE, pensions, and statutory obligations
- Confident working with payroll bureaus
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
