Senior / Principal Civil Engineer (Residential Projects)Location: Remote workingOutisde IR35Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior / Principal Civil Engineer to lead in the design and delivery of infrastructure for residential projects across the UK. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical, aspects of civil engineering within housing developments, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that meet client, regulatory, and industry standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Delivery
  • Lead design and coordination of highways, drainage, utilities, and site infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, Building Regulations, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Sewers for Adoption (SfA), and local authority standards.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, PDS) to guide project delivery.
RequirementsEssential
  • Minimum 12+ years civil engineering experience with a focus on UK residential development.
  • Proven track record in leading design and delivery of housing schemes.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning system, Section 38/104/106 agreements, and NHBC standards.
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) or equivalent
  • Experience in Design & Build contracts and working with major housebuilders.
  • Knowledge of BIM processes and digital design delivery.
  • Experience in sustainability frameworks (e.g., BREEAM Communities, net-zero infrastructure design).
  • Business development and work-winning experience.
