Job descriptionIntaPeople are currently supporting a well-established client based in South Wales who require several Backend focussed Software Engineers who have between 2-8+ years commercial experience. As a Software Engineer you will work in an experienced team on a number of fast moving projects whilst developing & maintaining innovative live applications which can reach millions of customer per day.The company is a forward thinking, progressive organisation that is constantly evolving as the industry they operate within is highly fast paced and competitive. Their core technology team consists of around 10-12 Developers all of which work in smaller groups to get the work delivered on time.You will have a strong interest and passion for working with backend technologies, although you’ll also work with modern front-end frameworks such as NuxtJS but don’t worry if you’ve not had experience, this can be taught!Skills/experience:
  • Strong demonstrable knowledge and experience of PHP (2-8 years + Backend experience)
  • Strong experience of development frameworks such as Laravel or similar
  • Experience with JavaScript and/or similar frameworks such as NuxtJS, ReactJS, NextJS or VueJS
  • Database experience – MySQL , SQL , NoSQL or MariaDB
  • An interest in modern development languages
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate with the wider team when possible
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at once
  • Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
There is tremendous opportunity to personally develop your skills as well as the opportunity to work with a range of complex projects and technologies. The current team all work closely and you shouldn’t shy away from a challenge whilst getting your hands dirty. They do use Jira for tasks and project management but things can soon quickly change due to client requirements or system issues so you’ll need to be adaptable and be able to work under pressure.Candidates looking to apply for this role must look to constantly update and develop their technical knowledge; responsibilities in this role will be varied however will include –
  • Work as part of an a small but fast paced, rewarding team
  • Develop and maintain modern applications, web service solutions
  • Ensure that the development team continues to deliver high quality products within efficient timescales
  • Work on software products that operate in the UK and US
The team are diverse but all work as one and whilst they are established but plenty of industry knowledge, they are the opposite to corporate and almost function as a start-up environment (which can be described as organised chaos).We are also looking for candidates to help cover a 7day operational model - please see the details below.Role overview (at a glance):
  • Software Developer – Mid or Senior level
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday - Could be Remote (UK) and Monday & Tuesdays are office-based (South Wales/Near Bridgend)
  • A competitive starting salary of £40,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)
  • Hybrid working 3days onsite
  • 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
  • Interview stages – 60mins MS Teams interview with Development team followed by a 15minute MS Teams meeting with the Technical Director.
