💰 Competitive Salary + BenefitsAbout the Role A dynamic and rapidly growing building services consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their Birmingham team. This role is perfect for an engineer with 2-5 years' experience who is eager to develop their skills and contribute to diverse projects across education, commercial, healthcare, and residential sectors.
You will work alongside a supportive team of electrical and mechanical engineers, gaining exposure to all project stages-from concept design through to installation and commissioning.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of electrical building services including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security systems
  • Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
  • Support site visits and surveys, including the preparation of technical reports
  • Ensure designs comply with UK regulations, CIBSE standards, and client requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and project coordination activities
  • Develop knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon technologies
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or HND/HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
  • 2-5 years' experience in electrical building services design, preferably within a consultancy environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
  • Knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations, CIBSE guides, and relevant UK building regulations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enthusiastic about professional development and working towards chartership
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines
