Due to continued success, our Geospatial department is seeking a motivated Geospatial Surveyor, to join our growing team in our multi-disciplinary consultancy office in Birmingham.This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the growth of a relatively new discipline at Ridge. You’ll gain hands-on experience with leading surveying practices, using the latest laser scanning and land surveying technology and software. We’re looking for someone with a flexible approach, who can support teams across the UK and ensure high-quality data delivery that meets our clients’ needs.With one of the largest teams of chartered surveyors in the property sector, located in regional offices across the UK, Ridge offers a depth of experience, expertise, and local knowledge to support clients at every stage of the property lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.As a Geospatial Surveyor at Ridge, you’ll benefit from on-the-job learning while working on prestigious projects. These range from large residential, industrial, and commercial schemes (with contract values over £30 million) to smaller developments. You’ll collaborate with a wide variety of clients, including major retailers, local authorities, schools and universities, contractors, and developers. There may also be opportunities to work on exciting overseas projects.We also welcome applications from candidates who may not meet the listed requirements but are enthusiastic and eager to grow in an Assistant Geospatial Surveyor role.Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking topographical surveys using the latest in robotic total station and GPS technology.
  • Undertaking measured building surveys using a variety of specialist laser scanning equipment including the Leica P40, Leica RTC360 and the Leica BLK2GO.
  • Processing and analysing topographical survey data to create 2D/3D topographical surveys using n4ce and AutoCAD.
  • Registration and processing of laser scan survey data into useable point cloud data using Leica Cyclone and AutoDesk ReCap.
  • Analysing data using plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD and GIS programs.
  • Preparing 2D and 3D survey drawings/models using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Presenting data to clients and writing reports.
Requirements
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience with n4ce (preferred but not essential).
  • Familiarity with laser scanning equipment (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work away from home when required.
  • Comfortable working both in an office and on-site in outdoor environments.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or outside standard hours when needed.
Skills and Experience
  • Office working hours are between the hours of 08:30 and 17:00 with a 1-hour lunch break.
  • Working weekends may be required in addition to starting earlier and finishing late on some occasions.
  • Full clean diving license is required.
  • Travel for work purposes is provided via company or hire cars.
