We’re really looking forward to having you around!We’re looking for a Visualisation Engineer to join the Commercial & Supply domain in the Data Team in Asda Technology. If you enjoy turning data into clear, meaningful stories that help people make better decisions, this could be the perfect role for you!You’ll be part of one of our Agile data squads, working closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Analysts, Architects and business users. Together, you’ll build reliable, scalable reporting solutions that support Asda’s strategic goals and help us make data more accessible and useful across the business.What you’ll be doing
  • Designing and building Power BI reports that are both insightful and easy to use, leveraging the Microsoft Fabric service for distribution.
  • Developing and optimising semantic models to improve performance and user experience.
  • Working with cloud tools like Azure and Databricks to support data visualisation processes
  • Applying best practices in Power BI development, including DAX and visual design.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to understand their needs and bring data to life in meaningful ways.
  • Looking for ways to improve how we work, whether that’s as a team, through automation, self-service, or better design.
  • Keeping an eye on performance and helping to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Supporting data governance and quality standards, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Get involved in requirement gathering, up front analysis, proof of concepts and exploring benefits of the latest technologies
  • Staying curious and up to date with the latest in data visualisation and Power BI.
What you’ll bring
  • A positive attitude with a hunger to learn, work collaboratively and drive the success of data.
  • Experience transforming data, building measures and looking for innovative ways to communicate data in reporting.
  • A solid understanding of Power BI (or similar tools such as Tableau, qlikview, Looker etc.) and a passion for creating great user experiences.
  • Hands on experience utilising SQL to retrieve and manipulate data
  • A hunger to learn and grow with new tools, technologies, and ways of working.
  • A collaborative mindset and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem solving approach.
  • Experience with Azure Data Services and platforms like Databricks is preferred, but isn’t essential!
