Based at our Capenhurst site, you'll play a key role as design authority within the field of Civil, Structural and Architectural Engineering. The role will involve the following non exhaustive list of responsibilities Design & Engineering Standards, Maintaining Design Integrity of Site Assets, Maintenance of SQEP (suitably qualified experienced personnel) resource profile, Engineering support to UUK organisation, Configuration Management and Design Control, Design Authority approval of changes & tenant oversight.You will provide support to the Site CS&A Manager and as Principal Engineer within the field, act as an important interface for the discipline internally and externally.At Urenco we're committed to giving you opportunities to be your best.   • Be accountable for CS&A activity, effectively acting as technical expert and custodian of discipline-specific design intent and engineering matters.
  • Provide strong oversight and quality review of projects, identifying and carrying through continuous improvements throughout the function.
  • Manage with full lifecycle, including: Requirements capture, input to schedule and resource planning, Optioneering and design, Specification and Procurement, Implementation/Construction, Commissioning & Handover, Project Support services
  • Delivering projects and engineering on behalf of customers within UUK (Operations, Logistics, Infrastructure, Finance)
  • Maintaining effective supplier relationships to enable delivery across all sites
  • Strategic Planning, Department Leadership & Personnel Development
  • Understanding and owning the design intent of the assets on site that fall within your specific discipline and working with other engineers to ensure full scope of design intent is covered
  • Support with resource and performance management of internal discipline-specific Engineers and Engineering contractors/agency personnel where required.
  • Ensuring that core skills levels, training needs and software/tools are maintained and developed across the discipline to meet nuclear industry standards and professional norms.
  • Act as Principle designer under CDM.
  • Identify and implement changes to procedures and processes to optimise the performance of your team and the wider business.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
  • Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer status required
  • Suitably qualified to a higher level in a relevant engineering/technical subject
  • Significant experience gained within CS&A engineering and already operating in a principal level role
  • Experience within nuclear sector is advantageous, but candidates who have experience from highly regulated industries in a CS&A capacity will be considered
  • Experience in a Design Authority equivalent role
  • Good understanding of the other disciplines, technologies, plant systems and processes
  • Ability to use or learn to use specialist software packages (e.g. system modeling packages).
  • Thorough appreciation of international and UK standards, legislation and regulations relating to engineering and design related to discipline-specific Engineering
  • An appreciation/accountability for budget management and a pragmatic approach to striving for value for money outcomes
  • The ability to take a consultancy minded approach and be pragmatic when required
  • Innovative and collaborative mindset with regard to solving unique engineering challenges
