Service Support Officer - Housing Growth Job descriptionAn exciting opportunity to join the Housing Growth Service has become available. This is a chance to be part of the pivotal delivery team of the Integrated Social and Affordable Housing Programme detailed in Sheffield City Council's newly published Housing Growth Delivery Plan 2025-2030. The team leads, enables and directly delivers affordable housing across the city working in collaboration with its key city partners. As a key objective of the Leader of the Council, our cross-party political members and members of the Sheffield Together Partnership, this is a top priority for the city.We are looking for an experienced, skilled & enthusiastic individual to join our team to support the Service to enable and directly deliver a number of workstreams of new social and affordable homes. You will have experience of working within a delivery focussed setting, supporting a range of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and be looking for a challenging role within a fast-paced environment.The Housing Growth Service sites within the City Futures portfolio.Duties and Responsibilities within the role will include:General
  • Being driven and pro-active - possessing a can-do attitude to new ways of working and using initiative when required.
  • Having a general knowlege of Local Authority administration, finance and support functions.
  • Supporting the team with a pipeline of deliverable projects, day to day operational work and administering orders within the wider portfolio. Be an advocate for the service and the wider programme, seeking opportunities to share best practice and learn from others.
  • Supporting the team with the Housing Growth Delivery Plan annual review and the development and review of policies/strategies.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 software packages, being particulatly proficient in the use of Excel.
Service Delivery Support
  • Servicing meetings with stakeholders and contacts, both internal and external, including arranging, setting up hybrid technology, recording, minute taking, distrubting and monitoring agreed actions.
  • Ensuring the Service has the physical, administrative and IT resources required to function day to day.
  • Supporting the team to produce communiations material when required, including collating from and delivering information to different sites within the Sheffield boundary.
  • Placing required orders for services and supplies using the various SCC IT and Finance systems.
  • Monitor the Defects generic inbox an take appropriate action to queries as required, including sourcing information, signposting, monitoring and reporting.
Service Strategic Support
  • Updating, monitoring and committing service budgets in line with monthly SCC Finance system reporting cycles.
  • Collating and recording affordable housing completion data from various internal and external souces, working with different services to troubleshoot data blockages when required.
  • Providing monthly Right To Buy Receipt expenditure returns to Finance, including monitoring expenditure forecasts for defined scheme expenditure.
  • Providing data for Government returns including completion, type, tenure, grant and expenditure data.
  • Administering any Freedom of Information Requests received by the Service, including collating answers and data from various internal sources and redirecting requests as necessary, including ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring the the Service's generic inbox and take apropriate action to answer queries as required, including sourcing information, signposting, monitoring and reporting.
Essential QualificationsBusiness Administration qualification (NVQ 3/4) and/or high-level skills in the use and development of business administration and minimum 1 year experience in the area.Job DescriptionPlease note that the job description linked to the advert refers to working in the Capital Delivery Service, reporting and assisting the Assistant PMO Manager.
