
Part time Practice Nurse

- Implement and evaluate treatment plans for patients with long-term conditions
- Long-term disease management, dependant on level of experience and training- Including but limited to
- Take and test pathology samples from patients for analysis (blood, sputum, urine, etc)
- Care for patients with uncomplicated wounds, including (but not limited to):
- Removal of sutures
- Wound assessment
- Wound cleaning and dressing
- Management of burns and scalds
- Ulcer care, (pressure dressings training not needed)
- Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes
- Routine immunisations, (as follows, but not limited to)
- Provide routine ear care such as irrigation
- Where qualified, prescribe medication within your areas of competence
- Perform other clinical duties as required, within the scope of the practice nurses competencies and training
- Registered Nurse
- Post Graduate diploma or degree - primary care
- Non medical prescriber
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse
- Experience of chronic disease management
- Experience of infection prevention and control measures
- Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- Venepuncture
- New patient medicals
- Chaperone procedure
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Travel medicine
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Asthma
- CHD
- Immunisations (Childhood, covid, flu, routine)
- Hormone injections/implants, B12
- Cervical sample taker, with cytology knowledge and HPV update
- Womens health (Contraception, etc.)
- Understanding the importance of evidence based practice
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs
- Understanding of infection prevention and control measures
- Knowledge of health promotion strategies
- Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
- Registered Nurse
