Job Title: Warehouse Shift Supervisor
Location: Elstree, Hertfordshire
Salary: £31,000 + £4840 shift allowanceContract: Full time, permanentHours: 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm Monday to FridaySmart10 are proud to be recruiting on behalf of an industry-leading pharmaceutical manufacturer for an experienced Warehouse Shift Supervisor to join their high-performing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a GMP-regulated environment, where quality, precision, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do.The Role:As Warehouse Shift Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with GDP, GMP, and Health & Safety protocols. You will manage a team of Warehouse Operatives, coordinate shift activities, and play a critical role in supporting commercial and export logistics.You’ll also act as the first point of contact out-of-hours and provide structured training and development support to your team.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and supervise shift operations to meet production and sales targets.
  • Allocate duties, manage schedules, and cover staff absences.
  • Monitor and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct regular team briefings and ensure compliance with SOPs.
  • Oversee stock checks, product storage, and dispatch accuracy.
  • Ensure warehouse security and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Be the main contact for coordinating UK and export shipments.
  • Support training and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
  • Maintain accurate stock traceability and documentation in SAP and other systems.
Person Specification:Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Previous supervisory/people management experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within GMP/GDP-regulated environments (3–5 years).
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance with written procedures.
  • Solid communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using ERP/WMS systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Reach Truck licence
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English.
  • Must be able to drive to get to the location
Desirable:
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Motorised pallet truck licence.
Additional Requirements:
  • Able to pass a Basic DBS check and provide 5 years of employment references.
  • Willingness to be part of the on-call rota (minimum 7 weeks per year).
