We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Knowsley to assist with the appointment of a VAT Accountant, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £23.00 - £30.48 per hourSummary:You will be part of team providing financial management support to Council service mangers delivering services to Knowsley residents. Your role will focus on providing specialist VAT advice to Council clients.Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist VAT advice to Council clients and manage VAT aspects of projects and major developments.
  • Monitor the Councils VAT partial exemption position and ensure accurate year-end calculations.
  • Manage VAT-related risks, tax planning, and Option to Tax processes.
  • Act as principal point of contact for VAT queries and provide clear, strategic financial advice.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to deliver robust financial monitoring and reporting.
Requirements:
  • Detailed knowledge of VAT in local authorities.
  • Strong understanding of public sector financial management and current local government finance issues.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret VAT implications of projects, policies, and strategies.
