This role requires a skilled Legal Counsel with expertise in the construction/infrastructure industry to provide comprehensive legal support and advice. Based in Fareham, you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  • Provide legal guidance and support throughout the tender process, including reviewing and assessing tender documentation and proposed contractual terms.
  • Draft and review agreements related to collaboration, procurement & contracting.
  • Support arbitration and legal proceedings, offering strategic input and documentation review.
  • Advise on legal matters during contract negotiations and project execution, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor legislative and case law developments, assessing their impact on ongoing and future projects.
  • Deliver contractual support post-project award, including execution and close-out phases of joint venture initiatives.
  • Review project-specific documentation, such as consortium agreements, main contracts, and subcontracts.
  • Prepare and assess project correspondence, including letters, variation orders, and claims.
  • Actively participate in contract and subcontract negotiations during project execution, ensuring alignment with legal and commercial objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including insurance, procurement, and treasury, to ensure cohesive legal and contractual strategies.
  • Promote contractual awareness across the organisation, supporting the development of expertise within legal and contract management teams.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Lawyer within international construction project environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction law, particularly international standards such as FIDIC and NEC contracts, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a pragmatic, business-focused mindset.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
