Every day, we support over 10,000 children and young people — ensuring they are safe, happy, and able to thrive.We are now seeking 4 passionate and skilled Specialist Assessment Social Workers to join our brand-new Specialist Assessment Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative team, carrying out complex assessments and directly improving outcomes for Birmingham’s most vulnerable children. As a Specialist Assessment Social Worker, you will:
  • Carry out high-quality, evidence-based assessments of children and families.
  • Provide clear, analytical reports to support decision-making in children’s best interests.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including schools, health colleagues, police, and voluntary organisations.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices are central to your work.
  • Contribute to our trauma-informed, relationship-based practice model, ensuring positive and lasting outcomes.
About You
  • Be a qualified Social Worker.
  • Hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrate resilience, strong time management, and excellent analytical skills.
  • Have experience in assessment and care planning, with a passion for improving outcomes for children.
  • Be able to work collaboratively, building strong relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Bring curiosity, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
