Main Duties:
  • Oversee Clinical and Care Needs: Maintain comprehensive oversight of the clinical and care needs of all patients, ensuring that individualised care plans are developed and implemented effectively. Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), including nurses, to collaborate with patients, their families, and community teams, ensuring that the unique needs of each person are met with the highest standard of care.
  • Provide Leadership and Stay Current: Stay informed about national guidelines, emerging best practices, and new developments in the field. Lead by example, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Provide clear guidance and mentorship to your team, including Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs) and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), supporting their professional development and education.
  • Clinical Risk Management and Assessment: Prioritise proactive clinical risk assessments, ensuring that potential risks are identified early and managed effectively. Oversee comprehensive nursing assessments and play a key role in the development and implementation of clinical models that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Quality Improvement and Innovation: Drive quality improvement initiatives, focusing on enhancing the overall standard of care within the team. Promote and implement least restrictive interventions, ensuring that patient autonomy and safety are maintained. Lead efforts in medication management, ensuring that prescribing practices are safe, effective, and aligned with best practice guidelines.
  • Collaborate and Develop Care Strategies: Work in close partnership with other healthcare professionals to develop and refine care strategies that meet the complex needs of patients. This includes contributing to the design and execution of care pathways, clinical protocols, and service development projects.
  • Support and Empower Your Team: Empower your team by fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth. Provide regular feedback, conduct performance appraisals, and ensure that all team members are supported in their roles, enabling them to deliver the highest quality care.
