Role summary/purpose of jobWe are seeking a Business Development Senior Executive to join our Global Markets (GM) team with responsibility for the Central Eastern Europe (CEE/CIS) group, supporting other GM key regions and responsibility for the GM team’s marketing materials, data and team infrastructure (e.g. Sharepoint, Salesforce).The Global Markets team is a small team with a unique remit. Sitting within the wider Sectors and Markets team, the focus of Global Markets is to manage the firm’s business development strategy and activities in all of the geographies in which we serve our clients but do not have a permanent, on the ground presence. The role will support the development and implementation of our strategy in CEE/CIS and other key regions. This involves understanding the global commercial landscape, developing and maintaining relationships with in-country local counsel and intermediaries, identifying related client issues and opportunities, understanding emerging market trends, articulating our USP in relevant markets/regions, and leveraging internal relationships to support in the winning of mandates.This is a varied role requiring excellent teamworking and communication skills as well as the ability to build strong, trusted relationships with senior internal stakeholders, third party law firm and client contacts, and to work collaboratively with brand, marketing, communications, research and business development specialists across our global firm.The Business Development Senior Executive will have some experience of working for a global firm or company in a fast-paced, professional, and client-focused environment. They may have operated in a specialist team providing support to multiple practice groups, for example Pitching or Content, or they may have been focused on providing broader business development support to a particular practice group or sector. It is intended that any existing specialization, knowledge or expertise continues to be leveraged significantly within this role. However, they will have a propensity to learn and an interest in working with colleagues in newly formed teams to broaden their experience and skillset.With this context, the role holder will be responsible for working collaboratively as part of the Global Business Development team for the Global Markets group to:
  • Understand the specific challenges and opportunities for the Group, including but not limited to the Central Eastern Europe region, executing a focused marketing and business development strategy that strengthens relationships with existing third party law firms, clients and intermediaries that targets new work and builds the global reputation of the firm
  • Deliver on events, particularly but not exclusive to, leading the CEE Capital Markets Workshop, supporting IBA related events, and the third party StrongerTogether network, to enhance the profile of our Group offer and strengthen our relationships with key stakeholders
  • Support the creation of compelling credentials, brochures, proposals, and pitches to respond to fast turn-around bids, strategic panels, or other opportunities to win work for the Group
  • Leverage marketing technology and tools to spot opportunities to develop existing clients and services, track key relationships, and measure the success of initiatives
  • Help to develop Group content, campaigns to increase engagement with key third party law firms, clients and enhance the personal brands of leading practitioners and the firm’s global reputation
  • Act as a key point of contact for enquiries and requirements in relation to the Group and the StrongerTogether third party law firm network, for example, leading key CEE initiatives, group calls and meetings with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as a key point of contact and support on the Group’s Chambers submissions
  • Manage the internal structure of the Group, including but not limited to the Group’s Sharepoint site, brochures, credentials, and Team’s folders
  • Build trusted relationships with a specific group of senior internal stakeholders and MBD colleagues to achieve a ‘one team’ global mindset
  • Be part of an agile and responsive bespoke service model based on mutual respect and appreciation of skillsets across the team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in the firm’s approach to business development, including proactive sharing of knowledge and data to centralised tools
