
Consultant in Acute Medicine

- Basic dental degree
- MRCP (UK) or appropriate specialist qualification
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- CCT in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
- Higher Degree
- Must be independent in practical procedures required of the acute medical take
- Broad experience in the management of Acute Medical patients and the running of an Acute Medical Unit. Experience in the care of the Acutely Unwell patient, advanced Life support and experience with setting up or running an Ambulatory Care unit. Experience of working in a Geriatric department and as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
- Appropriate exposure to the specialties involved in Acute Medicine training including Cardiology, Respiratory, Elderly Care
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- oExperience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
- oUnderstanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
- oEvidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
- oEvidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
- oRecognised teaching qualification
