Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism and making a real difference in their education? Axcis Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in South Bristol (BS13) to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant. Starting September 2025 (Term 1), this long-term role will see you providing 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with High-Functioning Autism (HFA). About the Role As a Teaching Assistant in South Bristol, you will: • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with High-Functioning Autism (HFA), focusing on academic progress, communication, and emotional regulation. • Use structured routines, visual aids, and predictable strategies to create stability and consistency. • Support social interaction and sensory needs, with access to the school's dedicated SEND base for moments of dysregulation. • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons and ensure full curriculum access. • Encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive relationships. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a Teaching Assistant in South Bristol who: • Has a calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with Autism. • Can demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. • Understands the importance of routine, structure, and flexibility for autistic pupils. • Communicates effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents alike. • Ideally has experience supporting children with Autism, especially HFA - though we also welcome applications from those with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
