Our Data and Technology Services division provides services to 14,000 staff and student users.Working with product owners and other team members to maintain and optimise business applications throughout the service life cycle ensuring continual service improvement. They will support reporting tools and systems enabling accurate management reporting as well as the incident management of issues relating to integrations between applications and database services.They will take the lead on maintenance projects, subject matter expertise and third line support within the maintenance and operational plans for systems related to application services, integrations between databases and applications and reporting infrastructure.Initially this role will focus on implementation of LSEs digital experience platform for first 12 months. Working as part of the Product/Project team acting as technical lead within the Digital Communications team and external partner to ensure the successful delivery of a school Intranet.The Business Application Specialist will:· Work closely with service owners to understand application roadmaps ensuring best value from available products· Ensure continual service improvement through in particular:
- Automation of repetitive support tasks
- Remote management of systems to monitor performance and respond to alerts
- Devolving support tasks to front line services or service lines to improve efficiency of the service
- Identifying opportunities for enhancing productivity and the user experience- Ensure maintained services are patched and secure according to required security standards (Cyber Essentials +) where applicable· Maintain reference documentation such as schematics, technical guidelines, operational standards and details of IT assets· Provide subject matter expertise on business application services to the LSE, including providing technical expertise to support decision makingCandidates should have:· Understanding of API and integration configurations· Knowledge of the install upgrade maintenance and support of third-party applications, supporting business functions such as HR, Finance and Student Lifecycle Management· Ability to utilise scripting languages and tools (e.g., Javascript, CSS/HTML, Python (Ansible), PowerShell)· Evidence of a strong technical background relating to industry standard technology (Linux/Windows/MS SQL/Oracle)· Ability to communicate complex ideas and technical issues to a range of different non-technical audiences.· Able to interpret user requirements offering solutions that offer an exceptional user experience and meet business needs· Able to plan own work and deliver effective, agreed outcomes as per scheduled.· Role model enthusiasm and energy about their work and encourage others to do the sameWe offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.For further information about the post, please see the , andIf you have any technical queries with applying on the online system, please use the “contact us” links at the bottom of the LSE Jobs page.
