We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK and US.The Role – Materials Science Degree ApprenticeAs a Materials Science Degree Apprentice, you will be working towards a BSc in Materials Science through an apprenticeship program at Sheffield Hallam University, which includes attending taught face to face lectures over several days each month at the university.Alongside your studies, you’ll be based in the world-renowned Magnesium Technology Centre and be involved in developing future lightweight advanced materials, sectioning of castings, extrusions, and forgings, followed by the preparation of specimens for analysis. You’ll also assist in the developmental foundry to prepare small castings and collate results and write reports.What you’ll need to be considered for the Material Science Degree Apprentice role:
  • A minimum of 112 UCAS points at A-level or equivalent (grades BBC or similar), with at least two A levels including Mathematics and a mathematics-based subject
  • GCSE Mathematics and English Language (grade A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Hard working and self-motivated, with a keen interest to learn and develop
  • Superb time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment whilst meeting tight deadlines
  • Professional interpersonal skills, and a team player with a committed, flexible and positive approach to work
