- Analyse database activity (DBMS errors, daily DBMS space diagnostic checks, DBMS growth, non-application related performance, resource limits, backup process, security and compliance)
- Propose improvements to optimise configuration and performance
- Provide administration support for incidents, problems and changes and perform database shutdowns and restarts
- Collect database statistics, create ad hoc reports and data extracts
- Apply fixes and patches to address security vulnerabilities and conform to vendor recommendations
- Manage system users and groups (create and modify DBMS user IDs) and populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with database configuration items in the ITSM tool
- Manage access control for DBMS in line with Sellafield security baselines; collaborate with the customer on security monitoring and corrective actions
- Monitor scheduled housekeeping jobs, perform regular maintenance and clean-up of the database environment, and ensure correct functioning of tasks
- Handle backup, restore, archiving and deletion processes

- Knowledge of database administration, configuration, clustering, optimization and access management
- Knowledge of Configuration Management
- Comprehensive knowledge of database concepts, data modelling and database applications, with ability to apply knowledge across COTS and bespoke applications
- Solid understanding of Corporate, Industry and Professional Standards
- Experience with Oracle Database
