Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
Rate of pay: £95 - £105 (per day)About the role:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school in Northumberland from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people by supporting their emotional ellbeing and helping to improve behaviour and engagement across the school.Key Responsibilites:Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to support students with behavioural and emotional needsProvide 1:1 and small group interventions aimed at promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilienceAssist in the development and implementation of individual behaviour support plansHelp to manage incidents of challenging behaviour, using de-escalation strategies in line with school policiesFoster positive relationships with students to encourage trust and cooperationMonitor and record progress and incidents to support staff and parents in planning further interventionsPromote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all studentsPersonal Specification:Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational or care settingExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsA calm, patient, and empathetic approachAbility to manage behaviour in a supportive and constructive mannerStrong organisational and teamwork skillsUnderstanding of safeguarding and child protection proceduresRelevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Team Teach, or similar)Why Join us?A supportive and inclusive school communityOpportunities for professional development and trainingA chance to make a real difference in students' livesWellbeing and pastoral support for staffTo Apply:Please submit your CV and a short covering letter outlining your suitability for the role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
