This is a career-defining role for a detail-driven engineer to work on the commissioning of a complex, safety-critical plant—taking it from planning and documentation through to live operationsCommissioning Engineers£35,000 - £80,000 DOE + 10% - 20% Bonus + Benefits12 month FTC - Multiple RolesNorth AyrshireRef: 24666You’ll be embedded within a multi-disciplinary team preparing for the launch of a next-generation production facility. In the pre-commissioning phase, you’ll lead on documentation, safety planning, and operational readiness. During commissioning, you'll take ownership of key process areas—helping to deliver trials and ensure a smooth transition to full-scale operationCommissioning Engineer - The Role:
  • Develop commissioning plans, operating procedures, and risk assessments
  • Support hazard studies and regulatory engagement
  • Contribute to plant layout, tooling, and process flow designs
  • Conduct FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement work
  • Provide technical support to production teams and help validate supplier inputs
  • Lead or support the transition to manufacturing and production readiness reviews
Commissioning Engineer - The Person:
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or similar)
  • Proven experience in production, process, or commissioning environments
  • Familiar with systems engineering, safety, validation, and certification
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred)
  • NEBOSH or similar safety qualification (desirable)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach
Located in North Ayrshire, this role would be commutable from Irvine, Kilmarnock, Glasgow and Ayr.
