Production Operative (Pre-stressing)

• Setting out the prestressing beds, moulds, and formwork.
• Checking stressing jacks, pumps, gauges, and anchorages are in good working order.
• Ensuring tendons, strands, and reinforcement are the correct type, length, and specification.

• Cutting, handling, and positioning steel strands/wires to design requirements.
• Fixing and securing strands to the anchorage points.
• Ensuring correct alignment and spacing before stressing.

• Operating hydraulic jacks and pumps to apply the specified tension to the tendons.
• Monitoring gauges to ensure correct stress levels are achieved.

• Coordinating with batching and casting teams to ensure concrete is placed once tendons are stressed.
• Checking that curing, and finishing meet required standards.

• Safely releasing tension in strands after the concrete has gained strength.
• Cutting and trimming strands neatly.
• Assisting in demoulding and handling finished precast units.

• Inspecting work for accuracy and compliance.

• Using PPE and safe systems of work
• Keeping work area clean and free from hazards.
• Following procedures for safe stressing, detensioning, and lifting operations.
