- Complete all of the necessary maintenance and repair tasks required which include painting and decorating to an acceptable standard including running repairs.
- Ensure the immediate reporting of irreparable defects to fixture, fittings and equipment to the Home Manager.
- Check the home’s maintenance request book for tasks to be completed on a daily basis. Decide and prioritise order of work to be completed in accordance with meeting service, regulatory and legal obligations.
- Conduct regular checks and inspections in accordance with legal and regulatory compliance inclusive of fire alarm testing.
- Conduct weekly and monthly checks of care equipment, emergency lighting, water temperature and fire equipment.
- Ensure that all servicing of equipment is undertaken as required to include such items as water boilers, cookers, air conditioning units, gas appliances and dishwashers etc.
- Maintain the home’s grounds and waste collection site. Ensuring an aesthetically pleasing, well maintained and safe environment.
- Maintain a supply of matched paint & lightbulbs and undertake running repairs of scuffed paintwork within the home.
- Ensure adequate budgetary control systems and maintain these systems within allocated cash limited budgets. Ensuring accuracy of receipts and records.
- Adhere to company purchasing procedures, minimising waste and control costs.
- Maintain the workshops and plant rooms in an orderly and clean condition and ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and safely secured at all times.
- In cold weather, ensure that all paths around the home are salted and cleared of any snow/ice.
- Liaise with all external contractors working within the home. Ensure that they are carrying out work in a professional and safe way.
- Ensure that all work undertaken is with full consideration to the comfort, security and sensitivity of the residents.
- When off duty, be prepared to give advice over the telephone and/or be called out to the Home in emergencies.
- Check in and dispersal of deliveries and collection/delivery for GP surgeries.
- Be available for home communal duties as required, to include driving, cleaning, resident activities and supporting other departments etc.
- Ensure that all records are maintained in accordance with the policies and procedures of Outlook Care.
- To attend and actively participate in staff and relative meetings, taking minutes as required.
