We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist interested in developing their career in neuropsychology in an acute neuroscience centre of excellence.The ideal candidate will have some background in working in neuropsychology and ideally within a tertiary neuroscience centre, though we are interested in Clinical Psychologists with other backgrounds seeking to develop their careers in this area.This post would also be potentially suited for a newly qualified or about to qualify Clinical Psychologist looking to develop their career in neuropsychology in an acute neuroscience setting.For candidates without a substantive neuropsychology background we would consider offering this post as a band 7 with preceptorship to 8A.Main duties of the jobTo provide neuropsychological input for patients with a neurological and/or functional disorder referred to the Walton Centre. To conduct specialist neuropsychological / psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions with patients and manage own specialist caseload.To provide specialist consultation and advice within a multidisciplinary context. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and undertake regular supervision. To provide clinical supervision for other staff members.To attend regular team meetings and present cases for discussion, undertake teaching and training of staff.About usThe Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is the only NHS trust to hold dual accreditation for the Investors in People.   • Doctorate of clinical psychology as accredited by HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology
  • HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Competence in two or more distinct psychological approaches to assessment, formulation and treatment.
Desirable
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Post-doctoral training &/or qualification (QICN) in neuropsychology or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Knowledge & ExperienceEssential
  • Experience of Neuropsychological assessment and intervention with neurological conditions/acquired brain injury.
  • Possess communication skills to convey sensitive information
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a neuropsychology department in an acute neuroscience center.
  • Experience of working with patients who have a diagnosis of a functional neurological disorder.
Skills & AttributesEssential
  • Able to use clinical judgement to assess the risk for patients presenting with anger, depression, suicidal ideation/intent and other psychological vulnerabilities.
  • Possess and apply advanced range of psychological theories in the areas of health psychology, clinical psychology counselling psychology and Neuropsychology
