- Good understanding of NHS data definitions and the rules governing data extracts and national data flows
- Good understanding of patient administration systems and their various modules
- Good understanding of the importance of high quality data confidentiality and security
- Proficient in the use of a PAS system
- Experience in using Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Experience of working, sometimes under pressure, to meet deadlines
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Experience of communication with clinical and clerical staff
- Experience of delivering training sessions
- Ability to identify data errors and correct them
- Able to prioritise own workload and to work without direct supervision
- Enquiring mind, with an enthusiasm for resolving queries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, via telephone or face to face
- Skilled in extracting and validating data from a variety of computer systems
