More information is available on our Career site at .Job DetailsThe Civil and Structural Engineering Team within Property Services provides technical and design services in connection with civil and/or structural engineering works relating to the Council's built estate, including for planned maintenance works, upgrading and improvement works and small to medium scale new build projects.We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake the challenging but highly rewarding role of Design Technician 1 (Civil and Structural Engineering). The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working in a civil engineering project/design role involving works to civil engineering structures and/or their related external environments.Experience in the following areas is essential:Remediation of flooding related issues.Knowledge of the Planning process.Civil engineering design including retaining walls and drainage.Roads design and construction experience is desired but not essential.A link to the role profile is included below, which provides more detailed information about the job and the type of person we are looking for.You will earn a competitive salary and have access to a range of benefits, including:

The PersonKey essential qualifications, skills and experience relating to the post include:
  • Educated to SCQF level 8, which includes an HNC or equivalent in a related subject;
  • Professional/ technical qualification related to Civil Engineering related discipline(s);
  • Substantial post-qualification experience;
  • Ability to monitor performance and review information to make improvements (deliver results);
  • Knowledge of appropriate Standards and Legislation applying in the Construction industry;
  • Communication skills (both written and oral);
  • Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise tasks to tight schedules;
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and group communication skills (Work together and Embrace technology and information);
  • Initiative, personal resilience and experience of delivering change (Focus on Customers);
  • Ability to provide a regular and effective professional service;
