- Develop solutions based on an understanding of the business environment and objectives
- Identify and quantify commercial risks / opportunities, and drive the implementation of plans which mitigate risk and deliver strong commercial performance
- Interprets and applies key financial indicators to make better business decisions, using sophisticated analysis and modelling to determine the returns and risks associated with investments; consistently makes wise choices in this area.
- Support the preparation of robust and transparent business cases, ensuring activity is consistent with the agreed strategic direction - identifying and quantifying associated costs, benefits, risks, and funding solutions
- Challenge data integrity in order to ensure quality and accuracy
- Develop and propose annual business plans for a given area or department, ensuring alignment with strategy.
- Applies knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals
- Work closely with the Tax and Treasury teams, Controllership and Commercial Finance teams
- Work with all relevant areas of the business that serve the financial accounting, reporting and control requirements e.g. shared services, to ensure accurate financial reporting and full compliance with financial regulations / accounting standards
- Be a qualified accountant
- Have a strategic mindset and can see ahead to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies
- Have in depth commercial understanding of the Retail market, ideally with Food
- Ability to makes sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
- Have strong analytical and strategic capability
- Demonstrate your experience in leadership, coaching and team development
- Able to communicate complex matters simply and effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong trusting relationships
- Ability to be highly independent and to challenge and collaborate at a senior level across the business
